31        General Sir Thomas Pearson  Now 100 years old. Retired 40 years ago..

32        Garth Doubleday - Following Cambridge University and six years war service (North African campaign), I spent my life looking after the family farms.  My sons have now taken over.  My diamond wedding was a few years ago.  Feeling fit for my age.  (2012)

34         Ivor Pugh     Anthony Pugh emailed in March 2012: Ivor made his 90th birthday at the beginning of August 2008 and organised his parties (plural) himself but died peacefully at the end of September. The champagne left over from his birthday parties was not wasted.  He was still driving until about 3 weeks before he died.

35         HW Stubbs – (2006 update) Retired from the University of Exeter in 1983 as senior lecturer in classics after 50 extremely happy years. Followed by retirement, living in Exeter, then Exmouth.  I am now living as a semi-invalid octogenarian with my daughter and her family in London, where my son-in-law is working at University College. My two elder brothers were in Robinites 1923-29 and 25-30 and died in 2000 and 1982 respectively.  The latter had been a master at Clifton for over 40 years (apart from an interval for confidential war work).  The former, after some years teaching at St Pauls, devoted himself to freemasonery.

39        Alun Emlyn-Jones – (2008 update) I retired from my charity Pen yr Enfys in June 2008.  I founded three drug & alcohol awareness charities in the 60s and 70s inCardiff, Newport and Llanharan and they all still run successfully.  I served as a magistrate in Cardiff for 36 years (57-93).  I was chairman of the bench for seven years.  I received my OBE in 1976 for work in the alcohol field. During the war I flew a tour of operations with Bomber Command (51 Squadron).  I married Prudence in 1949 and we had four daughters: Judith, Rhoda, Amanda and Lucy.  Prudence died in 1967 and in 1983 I married Julie.

39        Stephen J Barney – (2015) 2012 was the 70th anniversary of the Greatest Raid - on St Nazaire on March 28 1942. I was one of only two to make it to St Nazaire this March.  We try to go back every year - the French want us to keep coming. I went this March with my OR son Tim. I have learned to speak French and have made lots of friends over there

39        NH Neale – (2008 update) I retired from the law 20 years ago. I live on my own but with family nearby. I find it difficult now to get about since I fell and broke my hip a year ago.  Unfortunately I caught a bug during my stay in hospital which my friends tell me is par for the course in Portsmouth!  I had my 87th birthday in March 2008.

44        David C Allen –  (2015) Growing older! Will be 90 years of age in 18 months time, if I survive that long! Never a dull moment, being much interested in my family which holds 14 university degrees including 1 PHD, 4 Masters' degrees, a first class degree and the remainder top 2s. As one who served in the Navy before and after WW2 and subsequently a solicitor for nearly 50 years, I have had and continue to have a full and active life despite old age.

44        JCS Mackie – (2012) I have stood down from Haslemere Town Council and the Waverley Borough Council.  I have had a spinal decompression operation in 2011 and a full hip replacement in 2012 so my mobility is somewhat impaired.  I go to London seldom, usually for functions of the Worshipful Company of Arbitrators and the Crimean War Research Society.  I have been a widower since 2004, I have five children and 14 grandchildren.  I also belong to the University of the Third Age and the Haslemere Town Twinning Association which involves reciprocal visits to our twin towns in France (Normandy) and Germany (The Black Forest).

45        Gerald Carter - (2006 update) 80 next birthday and very lame – 9 holes of golf just about.  Very happy memories of 0q40-LQ45and how lucky we were.  AH Scott was a splendid housemaster and we had a ‘good’ war.

45        Bernard Price – (2008 update) Has had two hip replacements + on-going back problems – so finds walking difficult.  Great memories of Simon Kimmins as his study fag.

47         MC Inglis – reports he is ‘still living a reasonably active life’. (09)

47      Tony Mayer - Not mobile any longer.  Now divide time between Kensington and West Berkshire.  With 19 assorted children my wife Jill and I are fully occupied!

48     Simon Kimmins - Living in Harrow on the Hill with a Robinites son and two Robinite grandchildren well launched in life. Much involved these days with 3 guardian children, one of whom, Yeshe Verhagen is a Robinite just starting on her 2nd year at Teach First having graduated in Architecture and History of Art from Kings Cambridge.  The two boys deserted the colours and went to Harrow. But the eldest, Ogyen, made a small impact on Charterhouse getting a hat trick as a Yearling leg spinner on Maniacs.
After an eventful business life Ingrid and I work as a management support team much involved at the moment in launching a concert promotion start-up. I am in the last stages of completing a book, “Unlocking Reality”, which sets out to answer questions about why we’re here in this funny old world which I first began to ask myself 100 years ago in the cold, draughty and rather under-fed corridors of wartime Charterhouse. It sounds a bit “stodgy” put like that, but, although I say it myself, it’s a fascinating subject from which Ingrid and I have learnt a great deal.

Most trucks average 23,000 Kmsper month, so if you fancy yourself as a long distance driver..........!

Believing in the philosophy of 'Retire Early, Work Late' my wife and I sold our grocery store in 1995 and went sailing around the Gulf Islands for a year. These Islands, for those who are geographically handicapped :), lie between Vancouver and Vancouver Island, and stretch south towards Seattle. The following year we purchased a Greyhound coach (not, please, a bus!) that had been converted into a motorhome, and toured the continental US and Baja Mexico.....for the next 4 years. Now I work.

I still enjoy riding motorcycles at silly speeds, and manage to sail now and then on Okanagan Lake. I quaff a jug of ale with Nigel Page '72 when I'm in Vancouver, and saw Tony Cox '72 in Calgary about a year ago - fall of 2004.

Penticton sits in the southern portion of the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, and is considered to be semi desert. Its population is approx 38,000, with Kelowna (pop 110,000) 1 hour's drive north.  Because of its micro-climate, orchards and vineyards vie for space. The wine industry has been on a roll since the '80's, so the orchards are slowly losing out. Hmmm " An apple or a glass of wine? Glass of wine or apple ?" Hmmm. If you are bored at work one day, "Google Earth" Penticton, and go for a drive! or a flight !

I have two surviving children, Hilary, aged 18 and shortly going to Southampton
University to read Spanish, French and Italian and Fiona, aged 13, who is a music scholar at Priorsfield.

71               John Mickerson – Like a number of ORs I have done various self-employed jobs from Property Development (1975-1990), Catering Equipment Hire (1990-2000), running an ocean-going racing yacht (2000-20003) to finally having spent five years establishing a Wedding Venue & Conference Centre down at West Dean in West Sussex(www.farbridge.org.uk). I think this is my last job!  I find it extremely heartening that for so many, let us say, ‘Independent Robinites’, the vast majority have been very successful in their walks of life.  Coupled with this we also have the best attended Annual Dinner in the school with other house clamouring to be included.  Nothing has changed!

Most of the farm is reasonably steep hill country so thank God for the advent of sheep dogs! I've been farming in NZ for about 4 years now, and have 4 working dogs and a horse. (Not that he ever gets used for the purpose of mustering, but if ever the need arose...) I live on the farm with my girlfriend, who works in Hastings, an hour's drive away. (A city by NZ standards, but with a population of about 30 000, it would probably be considered a small town in Britain!)  Until I started here nearly a year ago, I spent 2 years working on a quarantine station for a live export company. There we monitored the health and growth of dairy heifers destined for Asia and South America. As a stockman there, I was also occasionally required to oversee their health on the sea voyage to where ever it was they were going. I ended up travelling to China twice and Guatemala once.
